Putting Business First, Technology Second

January 26, 2012, 11:45 - 12:30 pm
Moscone West Convention Center, San Francisco

You're at MacIT® because technology is your business, but being effective at your work requires that you learn to put business needs first.

This session looks closely at how and when to manage iOS devices, applying services in OS X Server which can aid business growth and may not already be in use, as well as identifying secrets to effectively manage infrastructure and network changes. We'll review core concerns that should govern every configuration and what steps a successful IT professional should go through to determine collaborative needs and come up with viable solutions.

Technology management has become a critical business function and making the business case for IT requires skill and understanding of factors beyond just technology like switch backplane, console access and virtualization. Through a series of real-world case studies we'll explain the concerns that drive a business and how you can bring the right technology solutions that will serve those concerns best. We'll help make the distinction between the best technology solution and the best overall solution for the business.

The session is intended for both IT and management. We'll help IT target their work to a businesses' overall needs and help management understand IT's goals and proposals to ensure a successful shared future.
